The Renée Crown University Honors Program is proud to announce that Kelsey O’Dell, Honors graduate of 2010, has been name as a recipient of a 2012 Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship for graduate work or professional study. Kelsey earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the College of Arts and Sciences in 2010 and graduated Summa Cum Laude with Renée Crown University Honors, submitting her Capstone Project The Association of Type-D Personality and Prognosis Following Diagnosis of Cardiovascular Disease: A Review and Meta-Analysis. Kelsey has officially been accepted for the Physician’s Assistant Program at the Yale University School of Medicine and will begin her coursework this coming fall. Please join us in congratulating this outstanding accomplishment of one of our very own Honors Program Alumna.

World premiere of Honors alumnus music piece
The world premiere of Chris Cresswell’ s newest piece,
Fabric of a World Unfolding will take place on May 22nd
at the Flea Theater in TriBeCa as part of Kathleen Supove’s
Music with a View Festival. Also, Nocturne No. 1 for Winds
was a runner up in the 2012 Young Composer Mentor Project
put on by the National Band Association.
Alumni Update: Sarah Wendell ’11
Honors Alum Sarah Wendell ’11 is being featured in Arts & Sciences news for landing a job in an NIH laboratory working on HIV research. Sarah is the recipient of an NIH Post-Baccalaureate Intramural Training Award. She won this award by working with the faculty and advisors of the Nationally Competitive Scholarship Committee (NCSC).

Honors alum Chris Cresswell,’11 will be having the world premiere of his Nocturne No. 1 for Winds this Saturday Feb. 18th at 2 pm in Setnor Auditorium. The work is a transcription of his solo piano work Nocturne No. 1 “Lonely Tonight”, originally commissioned by the Society for New Music for the 2011 Cazenovia Counterpoint Festival. The work features the Syracuse University Wind Ensemble and is being conducted by James O. Welsch.

Alex Pines’ Capstone Project Receives Award
Alex (2011 Newhouse) has won third place in the Hearst Multimedia Competition through the Hearst Journalism Awards Program for her Honors Capstone project entitled Our Coast: The Effects of Urbanization and Coastal Development on California Surf Culture.
